Oscar Campbell started watching birds from a bicycle at a young age on the shores of Lough Neagh, Northern Ireland. Since then he has visited seven continents in pursuit of them.
Living in the UAE since 2006, he was awarded the Sheikh Muhamed bin Mubarak prize by Emirates Natural History Group for work on bird conservation in the UAE in 2013.
He is chairman of the Emirates Bird Records Committee.
When not watching birds, he divides his time between other aspects of natural history, reading, listening to loud music, visiting the gym and, sometimes, teaching Chemistry in a school in Abu Dhabi.
