Mohammed Moulessehoul (Yasmina Khadra) was born in the Algerian Sahara.

He attended military school and spent 36 years in the Algerian army, which he left in September 2000 with the rank of commander.

Khadra’s published six novels under his real name, after which he chose the pseudonym Yasmina Khadra (the name of his wife) in 1997.

Khadra’s novels, including Les Agneaux du seigneur (In the Name of God), The Dictator’s Last Night, What are the Monkeys Waiting For? among many others, have been translated into more than 40 languages and adapted for film and theatre.
