Naouel Chaoui began her career in her native Algeria, as a University academic and administrator. She then moved to Rome to join the United Nations with major assignments in the Middle East and North Africa, before moving to the UAE in 2000 and returning to a University career at the American University of Sharjah.
Once her children were of school age, Chaoui channelled her expertise into working on a range of projects for various schools across the Emirates. She is fond of reading, traveling and humanitarian activities. Naouel continues to reside in Dubai with her three boys and husband, Stefano Ferretti.
She is fluent in Arabic, French, English and Italian and considers herself a citizen of the world. This is her first year moderating for the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature.
